Bad taste and smell from mouth

By Taylor 8/10/2011 2:37:09 AM
About a week ago i started having a bad taste in my mouth. It was really weird because i brush my teeth and floss everyday. When i started flossing one day in the back of my left top side of my mouth this horrible taste in my mouth kept coming up. I smelled the dental floss and I nearly threw up. I feel sick to my stomach. Iv'e tried brushing more on that side and using mouth wash but that taste wont go away. I don't even want to eat because it is so bad. I believe it may be a smell in between my gums maybe or even a tooth but none of my teeth are hurting me its just a smell that just recently started happening. I need to know how to get rid of this horrible taste in my mouth . Is there anything I can do to get rid of this smell?

The bad smell and taste can be due to periodontal pocket in that area or it can be because of erupting wisdom tooth. There may be infection around the wisdom tooth leading to pericoronitis which may be causing bad taste and smell. You need to schedule an appointment with your dentist. He will take the radiograph and check whether wisdom tooth is erupting or not. Bad taste and smell from the mouth can also occur because of periodontal pocket. Periodontal pocket develops when the area is not cleaned or flossed properly and there is food accumulation in that area. Food impactions lead to bone loss and periodontal pocket formation. For this, you can use an antimicrobial mouth wash or you can do warm saline rinses 3-4 times a day.  You need to take extra care in cleaning that area and even then if it is not responding, then you can consult your dentist and get deep scaling done.
