Black hard stuff around gum line of teeth can be calculus deposits which are present around teeth. Calculus is dental plaque which has undergone mineralization and occurs as result of food accumulates and deposits around teeth. Inadequate oral hygiene practices can lead to deposits around teeth. Faulty tooth restorations, misalignment of teeth, mouth breathing aggravates deposits around teeth. Calculus deposits can’t be scraped off easily and are yellow brown to black in color and dental cleaning is required for it. You can visit your dentist to get dental scaling i.e. cleaning of teeth done. Ultrasonic and or hand scaling can be done to remove the calcified deposits. These deposits will not go on their own and can further lead to various periodontal problems.  Maintain a good oral hygiene to avoid deposits around teeth. Brush twice daily and also do flossing regularly to remove the deposits which are present interdentally. You can also use a mouth wash which is a chemical adjunct to plaque removal.  For more info on good oral hygiene, refer to…..   http://www.identalhub.com/article_good-oral-hygiene-231.aspx
