Trauma to tooth or eating very sticky hard foods can cause fracture to the tooth and break the tooth. Food accumulates can occur in broken tooth and infection can spread from tooth to gums and cause gum lump. (Endo-perio lesion) If the nerve of the tooth becomes non-vital, then no pain occurs but the tooth is infected. Infection in the tooth and gums can lead to headaches. You need to get treatment done for your infected tooth. If only a small portion of tooth structure is broken, then tooth can be restored with composite filling which is tooth colored, esthetic filling material but if nerve of the tooth is also involved, then root canal treatment followed by dental crown will be required for the tooth. If tooth is badly mutilated, then root canal treatment, followed by post and core procedure and dental crown will be required for the tooth. If broken tooth is unrestorable, then tooth extraction followed by replacement of missing tooth with dental implants or dental bridge will be required.  You have to visit your dentist for treatment. By the time, you visit your dentist, avoid eating from side of broken tooth and maintain good oral hygiene.
