Caries in tooth without root

By Fillips 5/31/2012 1:22:41 AM
Hi, I am 17 years old. I have a cavity in one of my teeth for a long time and because it doesn't hurt I don't go to dentist until recently. The cavity has gotten bigger and I'm concerned that i might lost the tooth. So, I went to the dentist and she did an xray. However, she said that the tooth with the cavity has no root. Other teeth has root. As a result, she can't fix it. Right now, only small portion of the tooth is left. Can I fix this tooth? Why does my tooth has no root? Is the xray wrong? (She did it 3 times)

Tooth always has a root but it might be fused so i suggest you to get a second opinion from another specialist and get the treatment done properly....Sometimes the root is fused or its curvature is such that it doesn't show up in Xray...For more info you can visit the link....http://www.identalhub.com/article_causes-and-symptoms-of-dental-caries-229.aspx
