I have a tooth that lost its filling. now I believe I have an open nerve exposed. I'm on antibiotics *METRONIDAZOL500MG* this is the second anitibiotics I have been on in the past three weeks. The first was *AMOXICILLIN500MG* finisihed the prescripton in full. Now the roof of my mouth, my gums, the whole left side of my face is swollen, the under side of my left jaw hurts, the left side of my face feels numb, and it kinda hurts to swallow. Please help me if you can........my cell number is 228-222-0052 leave message if I don't answer. I may be at work and I can't answer my phone with the boss present. I can email pics of the interior of my mouth showing what's going on with it and my tooth. Please let me know if you need pics emailed to you.

From your symptoms, it looks that your tooth is badly infected as swelling and pain is there after taking antibiotics. You should visit the dentist asap and the treatment done. In this you have two treatment options, One is to save the tooth by getting the root canal treatment done and second option is to get it pulled out. Whether Root Canal Treatment can be done or not can only be confirmed after taking xray. Till then along with antibiotics, you can do warm saline rinses 2-3 times a day and try to keep good oral hyg so that nothing lodges in the tooth from which the cavity has come out. You can look for dentist near your home or work from our directory of dentists.
