How to get cheap or free braces

By Cynthia 11/29/2010 6:25:48 AM
My pocket doesn’t allow me to buy myself some fancy braces. Is there any way that I can get some discount? Are there any websites or doctors from where I can probably get free braces?

Tooth braces are an important part of dentistry and tooth development, so long as hygienic oral health is concerned. The mouth and teeth is one part of life that gets analysed by most people even before they meet you personally just like the face and a person’s dress sense - or lack of it!

While this writing is not only an exclusive piece about braces and their uses, it is most importantly about where or how to get braces for free, which may be more important sometimes more than even what is needed – more so in such time as this, when the recession is biting hard on personal finances and pockets of individuals more than insect stings.

There are few ways to get braces for free which I think must have been informed or written about on the internet. The difference between all of such write-up and this particular one is that, here we will focus on particular rather than general information on getting a free braces. Some of such ‘hows’ and ‘wheres’ are as listed below;
First and foremost thing is to check with one’s orthodontist for such offer. You may be surprised at how easy it is to get one or where, even some of the time your orthodontist may have a free braces programme with either periodic or personal consideration i.e. some are yearly, while some are patient oriented (based on patient’s finances).
Secondly, I dug up the internet for specialised free braces for such patient needing the same; these are few of my results that will be very useful;
?        Eagan Orthodontics: started by John P. Eagan – Michigan’s first African American Orthodontist in 1955. Now operated by his son, Dr. J. Victor Eagan. Dr. Eagan and his wife, Catherine Eagan, will donate: 55 sets of braces to children in low-income families. www.EaganOrthodontics.com.
?        Free Braces event. God’s Graceland Park (located on grounds of Greater Grace Temple) 23500 W. 7 Mile.
Other useful information about getting free braces are based on insurance, Government aided health systems e.g. European countries (e.g. Norway, Finland, Sweden, Slovenia, Slovakia, Germany, Croatia or Denmark) orthodontic treatment is available without charge to patients under 18, while for Republic of Ireland and the UK, when treatment starts at 16, benefits for orthodontic treatment are provided under government-run health care systems. However, in the UK, the National Health Service will not pay for braces if the teeth do not a have protrusion of over 5mm; if there is no protrusion, it is termed “cosmetic”. In some countries (e.g. Ireland), adults can also get treatment at a discounted rate, or claim tax relief after paying a full cost with a private practitioner.

Yes it is possible if you are lucky enough. Try some dental school near your home. In dental schools sometimes the treatment is done free to cost of make the students learn but the it does not mean that treatment quality is bad. Treatement quality is absolutely good as it is done under supervision of senior dentist. You can also get braces at half cost with some discount plans. For more you can read this article http://www.identalhub.com/dental-how-to-get-braces-at-half-cost-675.aspx

If you really need them so badly then you have to pay up for them. Free braces can be found but you have to google hard for that. You can check up dental school in Las Vegas, as in dental school, they sometimes do free dental braces as the students needs patients to try but the treatment is free. So just visit and dental school in Las Vegas and offer yourself as willing patient to Orthodontic students as sample patient and may be they do your tx free. But rest assured, your treatment will be best with no compromise on quality and will be done under supervision of senior dentists and teaching faculty.

Getting cheap braces is not impossible but you have to really look and search for them. There are enough comments above on the issue. The best way forward will be to look for dental school school near you as the things are cheaper over there. There are good financing plans like CareCredit which can finance and you can pay in instalments. You can look for some special dentist in your city. Browse ADA.org to look for announcements for this.

I had my braces in Asia 2 years ago and now I feel that it's moving back. I'm scared to have braces again as well as the cost. What should I do?
Posted By : Dr. Ritz on 6/5/2011 7:31:35 PM
After the completion of braces treatment your dentist must have given you retainer and given you instructions to wear it. If you are wearing the retainers as directed then there is no reason for teeth to retract otherwise they can retract. Usually for first 6 months retainers have to be worn 24x7 but afterwards you can wear them at night. If you have problem in wearing removable retainers then you can opt for fixed retainers which are fixed at the back of teeth and are not visible. Sometimes the retainers have to be worn really long ore even permanent in case of severe crowding.

I really need braces!! Throughout the years my teeth have been getting worse and i just feel like getting a hammer and breaking them off. I really need to find a place where i can get them cheep atleast $100.00 a month would be ok. I live in Santa Ana California and need to find a place where i can get my braces for $100.00 a month.. Please help me!!!
Posted By : Dr Ritz on 6/21/2011 7:10:01 PM
Getting braces at $100 per month is difficult but not impossible. You have to really search hard in your area for some free or discounted clinics. You can try dental school where the treatment is usually cheaper than private dentists and you may get braces at quite less down payment and $100 regular monthly payments. Braces treatment usually costs around $5000 and out out that you have to pay around 40%-%50% upfront at start of treatment and the rest is spread over treatment period in monthly instalments which can be around $125. If you are working then you can opt for care credit and pay the upfront fee with that and afterwards it can be managed. So best of luck.

Where to buy cheap braces?
Posted By : Tara on 7/7/2011 2:06:17 PM
My son just turned 20 and has just decided that he would like to get braces. Because of his age he is no longer covered by our insurance. The cost of braces in our area, Pennsylvania, will run us 5000. We can not afford this and I hate to see my son feel uncomfortable and out of place with his not so perfect smile. Does anyone know any dental schools in PA that would take him as a patient and decrease the cost of braces to us. Anyone with advice please respond. Thank you.

I am a 35 years old female and have malaligned upper front teeth. I went to the dentist and he told me that I can get braces treatment done and my teeth will become normal after that. The treatment for braces is too expensive and my pocket doesn’t allow spending too much on it. What should I do?? My upper front teeth look very bad.

If you are an adult and are thinking of getting yourself braces then what you do need is to find yourself a way to get cheap braces for adults. There are several adults who are left with considering getting themselves braces but don’t actually go on to as then they are left with a huge bill. However, with the case of cheap braces for adults you can certainly go on and take the plunge and ensure that you have teeth that not only look good and aligned to perfection but are also able to maintain their strength and be bereft of cavities. The use of Cheap braces for adults will enable you to go ahead and correct these imperfections and at the same time also allow you to be able to get the right kind of dental treatment if need be. The thing to keep in mind is that as an adult you have teeth that are more positioned and might be difficult to correct. This makes the braces treatment far longer and drawn out which requires more money as well as time and effort spent on it. Therefore, the kind of cost that you could be roughly looking at is somewhere in the realm of $5,000 to up to $10,000. There are cheap braces for adults in the form of invisalign that can be worn at night. At the same time, there is the traditional metal and ceramic braces that don’t cost as much as the cost of invisalign braces but can cost far less. The invisalign braces have an edge over the traditional braces as they are invisible and no one will know that you have them on. The thing is that there are so many different kinds of braces around and if you go on to ask your dentist and do your groundwork well enough then you are positively going to end up with the right kind of Cheap braces for adults. Cheap braces for adults need not be ones that do not fit or are not perfect for you. There are several different factors to be considered in braces and if you take good care of the cheap braces for adults they will work equally well enough for you. One important factor to keep in mind is that when you have cheap braces for adults on you must certainly be careful about the kind of food that you eat. This means that you should avoid hard and crunchy food that can harm your braces. Also, you will find that they need to be fitted well by a trained orthodontist in order to avoid soreness and discomfort. The use of cheap braces for adults gives you the perfect way to go ahead and make your teeth well aligned in one single line. At the end of the treatment when you see the kind of smile and teeth that it leaves you behind with. At the same time you wouldn’t have ended up spending a whole lot of money on it.

Rita, To get cheap dental; braces, you can visit any of the dental schools near your place where treatment provided is free or is free of cost. Treatment is done with students under the supervision of senior dentists in dental schools and quality of the treatment is not bad either. You can go to a dental school for getting treatment done. You can try few dentists in your area and can discuss with them if you can pay in installments and get cheap braces.

Posted By : Dr Ritz on 10/18/2011 4:31:32 AM
Diego, Braces are quite expensive and costs around $5000. It is difficult to find absolutely free dental braces but you can get cheap orthodontics. 1. Firstly you can talk to your orthodontist and can strike a deal with him. He may agree to provide orthodontic treatment to you at cheaper rates or may agree on payment for braces treatment in installments. 2. Charitable organizations may also provide cheap or free braces. These organizations cover the cost of dental braces for people who can’t afford them. 3. In dental schools, cheap or free orthodontic treatment is provided. Treatment in dental schools is done under supervision of well experienced dentists. Quality of treatment provided in various dental schools is not bad either. You can get cheaper orthodontic treatment done at various dental schools. 4. State dental societies can some time provide assistance for braces treatment. 5. Dental insurance companies may or may not cover braces treatment. Braces treatment is quite a lot of times covered by insurances for children up to the age of 18 years.

Plz tell me where can i get cheap dental braces? i have a deep bite present and my teeth look ugly. i don't even smile as i don't want to show my bad teeth to anyone. I can't afford braces treatment. I don't have money or insurance to get braces treatment. How can i get cheap or free dental braces? what can i do?
Posted By : Dr Ritz on 11/7/2011 11:58:52 PM
Jessica, Braces are expensive procedure and it is difficult to find absolutely free braces. General dentist can’t give braces and patient has to visit a specialist (orthodontist) to get braces treatment done. Some procedures like deep cleaning and filling may also be required with braces treatment. These factors make the cost of braces go up. It is difficult to find absolutely free braces treatment but patient can get cheap or low cost dental braces. The most inexpensive of braces that you can get for yourself are the traditional ones that are made up of metal. They are fixed in front of your teeth. On the other hand, by being able to spend a few more dollars, you will be able to get for yourself the best of ceramic braces. These braces are almost invisible and made of thin wires that hold them together and can’t be seen from afar. There are lingual braces as well to choose from that has metal that is at the back of the teeth so that they can’t be seen from front. Though these can be avoided as they turn out to be quite expensive an option once you have compared with other kinds of braces that are available. Local orthodontist: The best ways to ensure that you end up paying less for your braces is to opt for the right payment plans and get a good dental insurance. Most people who opt for braces might not be able to afford them and orthodontic offices are quite accustomed to this. Patients can’t afford to pay for their full braces treatment in one go and therefore they are offered interest free plans to pay in installments. There are several different payment plans for cheap braces that one can opt for. You can also get a plan for yourself that can cost as less as $100 a month. Your best bet remains the local dental offices. Get in touch with them and they will be able to offer you rates for cheap braces based on your income. The best ones are connected with the local governments. In case you don’t know how to find these local governments then you can get in touch with your region's health department and they will be able to help you out with the information. How to use your insurance policy for cheap braces: Dental insurance is something that we all should have however, every health insurance differs with the kind of coverage that they give and whether they give orthodontic treatment as a part of it. If your health insurance policy does not support this then you can go ahead and buy a separate dental policy that does not cost much. You can get one for a cost that is as less as $5.00 – $20.00 for a month. This can work out to be extremely beneficial for a family that does not have to pay separate orthodontic bills. Before you opt for the dental policy all that you need to make certain of are the coverage that you get, co-pay, and deductible with great care. You might be better off spending the money on no-interest payment plans in certain cases. Clinical trials happening close to you: There are trials conducted for specific kinds of concerns are they oral, dental, or craniofacial and there are some whose only requirement is a healthy patient. There are trials conducted for different purposes as well such as treatment, prevention, diagnostic, screening, or quality of life purposes. Clinical trials typically run for 4 phases: Stage 1 The intention of this stage is to find out how safe the particular drug or device is in dental practice. It needs to have 20-100 paid helpers, who help to test its efficacy. Researches will watch and observe the side effects of the drug or device when used on humans and how different dosages have different impacts. Stage 2 The intention behind this stage is to find out how successful will the drug or device be when used on humans. It is tested on several hundred of volunteers. The patients are into two groups. One that will get the untried treatment and the other will receive a control. The results will be contrasted and evaluated. Stage 3 The intention of this stage is to give more profound insights into how effective the drug or device is going to be. This can be done with the help of unsystematic testing on hundreds and thousands of patients. Stage 4 The intention of this phase is to do a comparative analysis of the drug or device to the ones that already are being sold in the market. This is the time when the long term efficacy is looked at from the perspective of the drug and the costs involved. This is only done the moment the drug or the device in question has been approved and is ready to be sold in the market. Look for a college or university that teaches dentists: Usually, every dental school has a clinic that offers low cost dental care. This allows new dentists to be able to practice their skills and enables the dental school to get certain tax breaks and grants. The students are overseen by licensed professionals at all times. This means that the dental treatment that you are offered at these dental schools is perfectly safe and in fact the almost same treatment that you would get at a dental clinic. If you are still skeptical about this then you can go to dental schools that offer post-graduate studies and have a faculty or clinic attached to it. The dental clinic might not be located close to you and you might have to incur fuel costs, but at the end of it is worth it. Braces treatment is anywhere up to $5000 in private dental clinic and out here it will cost you only $3000-$4000. Therefore the savings that you incur in a dental school are to be noted. The local community college can help you with the teeth cleaning as they have a dental hygienist training program on board. All the students are stringently observed by a trained professional and you get to pay low prices. Search for free dental clinics: These are some free dental clinics that are held by churches or local non-profit agencies. These might be able to get you free braces treatment.

I have never been to the orthodontist because I'm scared to ask my parents because my mom doesn't make enough money. I would really like to find a place with free braces or enter a contest or something. Anything to lower the price of braces is fine with me. :) I had a friend that went to the dental students at the University of Florida and her teeth still had a huge overbite but the cost is a lot lower than a private practice. Please help me figure out what I need to do I am near Gainesville, FL.

I have had braces for thirteen years. I've always been too broke to pay to finish the process. I was in the third grade when I got them. I am 21 now and have a two year old daughter. If anybody can help point me in the right direction to get either financial help to finish the process, I would greatly appreciate it. I'm desperate. Thirteen years is way too long. I should be in Ripley's Believe It Or Not.

Dreona, Medicaid doesn’t cover dental braces treatment. If you have cost constrains, then you can opt for metallic dental braces which are less expensive as compared to ceramic, lingual dental braces or invisaligns. You can get dental braces at low cost by visiting a dental school or you can talk to your local orthodontist if you can pay in installments for treatment. You can also look for some free dental clinics near your place for treatment.

I need braces. Not badly.. But my teeth aren't the best. I live in kewanee Illinois. Could I find a way to pay a cheaper price for braces? Like pay only $500 or something like that. My mom can't afford to pay $4,000 for them. I would love to have better teeth in the future!!

I would like to know where to get cheap braces and a better orthodontist, I had braces before, but my dentist only cared about getting paid and discharged me before my teeth were done. Now, I have poorly shaved down bottom teeth and a large gap on my top teeth, anyone know of anything around Missouri, particularly around the ballwin area?

Dear KENT, you can visit our homepage www.identalhub.com and on the top right tab just add the necessary details like country and area. The webpage will give you the list of doctors in that area.

Autumn dont worry there are certain dental schools which offer cheap and effective treatment as compared to the private dentist the difference being that here young budding dentist work under expert suppervision. Also ask the dentist around ur place who can offer u discounts also there are certain dentist who provide treatment for less if u appear in their advertisements , so u can look for all this around ur place.

how do i get cheap braces
Posted By : Dr.Ritz on 8/7/2012 3:11:25 AM

Dear ASHANTE, You can visit a nearby dental school where though you treatment is done by budding dentists but is under the strict supervision of experienced doctors. Also the charges there will be very less as compared to private practitioners. You can even seek help from CARE CREDIT, were the treatment cost is taken up by the company and you can return them the money in easy monthly installments.

When I was about 11 I had already lost all my baby teeth but then a 2nd pair of k9's grew in behind the already permanent ones and made them loose and they fell out when I was 15 years old. They left my now insizers push back and I can't afford to get braces and have horrible credit. I have been hoping to find a dentist in washington who maybe able to help me out! I'm now turning 29 and have been hiding my teeth about half my life. Please help.

Dear PAULA HARRISON, For treatment at less cost you can visit a dental school. Though the treatment is done by budding dentists there but it is at an extremely low cost or may be free depending upon the financial status of the patient. Else you can seek help of CARE CREDIT. Under this scheme, the company pays for your whole treatment and you can return them the money in easy monthly installments.
