Molar 15 extraction and bad taste

By Bobby 3/6/2012 12:11:53 AM
I had my molar 15 extracted on friday at 3pm. It's now late Sunday night, and have concerns. I'll be leaving town early am for work, and won't have access to the dentist that did the extraction. I'm a smoker, but haven't smoked since the extraction. I havent spit, and have followed suggestions such as rinsing, brushing, and good oral hygene. The clot has a yellowish crust surrounding the hole. There is no paid that Advil cannot take care of. The second problem is that there is a horrible taste in my mouth. It's hard to describe, but my GF won't kiss me, lol. I extremely scared of dry socket since I'll be leaving town in a few hours. Do i need to be concerned due to the yellow crust, and bad taste? thank you so much doc!!!

If there is no acute pain and no swelling is there then you should not worry but take care so that secondary infection does not occur. Do warm saline rinses 2 to 3 times a day and maintain good oral hygeine. You can use some good antimicrobial mouth wash also.
