Post and core after root canal treatment

By Michael 12/17/2009 3:09:59 AM
I went to the dentist for the decayed tooth. He has advised me for root canal treatment and then post and core. Above that he has recommended me for crown. Is this the only option. Please help me to decide.

If the decayed tooth is infected which can be decided by seeing the X-ray and the remaining tooth structure of the tooth is quite less then you have to go for the root canal treatment and the post and core. If the crown is given with out giving the post and core in such cases then there is the chance that the crown will come out. So if you want to save the tooth the best option is the root canal treatment with post and core followed by the crown. If you want to know more about the root canal treatment like when it is indicated and why crown is given then you can visit the following link http://www.identalhub.com/articlecategory-root-canal-therapy-17.aspx
