Putting braces during gum recession

Hi, i'm having gum recession problem and thinking of putting on braces to fix over-crowded teeth. Would you recommend a patient with gum recession problem to go through orthodontic treatment? Will the treatment make gum recession worse during or after the treatment? Thank you.

Putitng braces during gingival recession even though gums are healthy can worsen the condition. There are few things to be taken care off (from doctors' point of view) while undergoing orthodontic treatment.

Allow slow movement of the teeth in controlled manner.

Secondly, minimize the tooth flaring as this will worsen the recession.

closely monitor the patient for recession and if recession worsens during the treatment than there are chances that patient might require a gingival graft after the treatment.

I would recommend seeing your orthodontist who can further evaluate your bite and your teeth as well as the amount of recession and keratinized tissue on your lower anterior teeth...For more info visit the link....http://www.identalhub.com/article_treatment-and-causes-of-gum-recession-887.aspx
