Normaly when the gum line is red it is the indication that you have gingivits. but in that you have bleeding and irritation. As you do not have these signs then may be it is due to the red gum you chew. You can stop it for a week and see if the redness goes then it is because of that or you have to go to the dentist as some times in the initial stages of gingivitis there is no pain or irritation.
