Swollen gum behind wisdom tooth

By Jenny 11/21/2013 9:28:10 AM
I woke up this morning with painless swelling behind my wisdom teeth. I am 21 years old and was told i do not need to have my wisdom teeth taken out. The swelling is on the top of my gums directly behind the tooth, I cant close my jaw all the way because of the swelling. What is going on?

Swelling in the gums behind wisdom tooth is due to some gum problem. Normally in this region, pocket formation is there as it is difficult to clean this area. It is always better to get the wisdom tooth pulled out as this problem keeps on recurring or maintain very good hygiene in this region so that gum does not get infected. For now schedule an appointment with dentist and get proper diagnosis made. Till then do warm saline rinses 2-3 times a day and maintain very good oral hygiene. for more info on problems associates with wisdom teeth you can check this link in our website.... http://www.identalhub.com/articlecategory-wisdom-teeth-47.aspx
