Swollen gum with Cracked Tooth

By Brian 5/31/2010 8:30:13 PM
swollen gums around a tooth that had cracked about 3 months ago. also sinus congestion. Not sure if the sinus congestion is from cracked tooth or not but the swollen gums have just been for a couple of days and may be cause from sinus congestion. The sinus issues have gone on for about 2 weeks. I've been using nyquil. but normally just use aleve for the pain. What can I do to make the swelling go away and get rid of the sinus issue? I don't have insurance (well I do but the dentists in my area won't accept the state-funded insurance I do have) Again what can I dod to get the swelling to go down and the sinuses to clear up?

The gum swelling is definately because of cracked tooth. The sinus problem can cause the pain but normally  not the gum swelling. You have to get the treatment done for crakced tooth which can either be getting the tooth pulled out or getting the root canal treatment done depending upon the extent of crack. The dentist will take the Pano and if the sinus is very close to the tip of tooth them may be sinus problem is because of tooth infection but that can be ascertained only after clinical examination and xray. For cheap dental treatment you can try some dental school near your home or find out the dentist who accepts medicaid.
