Spaces between the teeth can be because of gum diseases or can be due to heredity. To close the spaces between teeth, braces are the best and permanent treatment.  The duration for braces treatment is 18-24 months and is dependent on the age of the patient and the amount of space present between the teeth. There are stages in braces treatment. In first stage, the alignment is corrected. In second stage, the spaces are closed and in the third stage, finishing and retention is given. You are in your first stage of treatment.  The spaces will close in some time. Orthodontist will tighten the wires in later stages to close the spaces. If you are still apprehensive, then you can discuss about your treatment with your orthodontist. Invisaligns, retainers and cosmetic procedures like bonding, veneers, and crowns can also be used to close the spaces but braces are the best treatment. You don’t have to worry about it. The spaces will start closing in some time. For more info on how do braces work, you can refer to the following article… http://www.identalhub.com/article_how-do-braces-work-419.aspx
