White lumps on my gums

By Keun 2/22/2011 8:07:16 PM
Hey i have these white lumps on my gums? I noticed 2 of them growing, one is very small and one is about half an inch. Then i have like 3 more thats bigger than half an inch. It does not hurt but i am scared it could be cancerous as my mom died from liver cancer. I have been smoking for about 10 years now. After i quit smoking, i notice the lumps stop growing bigger, but it has not gone down in size.

It is better you schdule an appointment with your dentist asap and get is diagnosed as white lesions should not be ignored. Though it can be benign also which goes with time as you have stopped smoking now. If the dentist feels then he will reommend the biopsy to confirm the diagnosis. With clinical examination and proper detailed history, it is difficult to comment on such lesions. So it is better you to visit a dentist asap. It can be gum lesion which is caused by irritation or infection of the gum or it can be some apthous ulcer. It is difficult to give the diagnosis without seeing the lesion clinically. If it is apthous ulcer it will be self limiting and will heal within a week and if it does not the schedule an appointment with your dentist and till then maintain very good oral hygiene and donot irritate the area.

Have two tiny pimple like spots on the lower gum under the eye tooth. Do not smoke or drink. They do not bleed when brushing. Could this be from stress?

This can be due to gum infection or due to infected eye tooth. Sometimes there is no visible decay on tooth but because of trauma the tooth becomes infected and hence the pimples on gum. You have to go to dentist and get clinical and radiographic xray done and find out cause. Normally this kind is not due to stress.
