Thousands of farmers from all over the Wisconsin region showed up in large numbers in Madison in order to show their support and rally against the senate bill11. This new legislation that has been passed by the government shows that the state run Medicaid and other health insurance plans have to be cut. There were farmers all over some in tractors and other on foot protesting against this unfair legislation. Most of them were dressed in green in order to show their affinity and the crowd swelled to 100,000 peoples all supporting the same cause.
Many of these farmers in Wisconsin are not privy to regular dental checkups as they don’t have health insurance. Many of them just about qualify for the government run health insurance programs. The lower income levels also go on to place them at a higher risk of losing their teeth due to dental decay and carries. The elected governor has given his word to cut the state budget and the farmers think that the next thing in line is going to be health concerns and insurance.
It was in the year 2010 in June that a new Wisconsin Dental Association was started. This was to have a Badger Care Dental plan in place that would help dentists get 40% of the standard rates applicable and the remaining would be reimbursed by the government. However, in reality not many dentists are keen to accept patients who are on the Badger Care Dental plan. The patients need dental care but the cost is prohibitive. At the same time, Badger Care has been going through a loss as this is not a profitable venture for them.
The farmers believe that the state intervention will enable the money to flow in and they will be able to keep their teeth intact. They even want to trade in milk and meat in order to get access to quality medical and dental care. They feel that it would certainly be a good idea if the farmers and the dentists came together and worked out some sort of a barter system for themselves. They certainly want a good amount of cleanings, crowns and fillings at an affordable rate.
