The residents of Hampshire are certainly not happy that the health department wants to try out the harmful impact of fluoridating water in the region. They hate being made guinea pigs and being made to consume fluoride water that is known to bring about untold harm to one’s teeth.
The Department of Health, the DoH has decided to add this harmful chemical to tap water which is going to be supplied around Southampton. This in turn will help them to study the impact that this chemical has on people’s teeth. Fluoride is known to have an extremely bad impact on teeth and cause mottling and pitting. The residents are certainly alarmed to hear of this and don’t want to be treated as guinea pigs.
They also are extremely concerned about children being exposed to fluoride and ruining their teeth just because of the study.
The water was supposed to have been supplied to regions of Southhampton, Totton, Easleigh, Netley and Rownhams. This has brought about legal tussle between the residents and the state and has been put on hold for the time being.
This is what a mum and a resident of the region, Gerri Milner had to say about the scheme. Last month, a judicial review against South Central Strategic Health Authority or SHA tried and approved the scheme to add fluoride to tap water against the most widespread of dissent amongst the public.
