Tooth Whitening now opted by more Americans

The Number of teeth whitening treatments that are available has increased as teeth whitening seems to be on everyone’s wish list of top priorities and therefore as the trend catches on more and more teeth whitening treatments are there on offer. This was poll of member dentists of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD) and it was found that more number of people is opting for teeth whitening than ever before.

According to Shannon Pace Brinker who is a certified dental assistant and clinical editor of Contemporary Product Solutions more teeth whitening is being done. Pace Brinker performed more than 400 whitening treatments in the past year, and attributes increased treatment acceptance to the ability to offer a high-quality whitening system with various options to treat patients. The materials used are far better such as the bleaches, time, finances and patient compliance.

Also, Pace Brinker says that her practice has reduced its fees for whitening. This has attracted more patients who want teeth whitening to be done and has been able to offer them other cosmetic options in dental treatments. Patients have been saying yes to teeth whitening in a big way. Also, they seek teeth restorations in order to be able to match their new white teeth.

The average price for a whitening treatment is about US$150 for take-home whitening and US $350 for in-office treatment. The price reduction in the teeth whitening systems has brought about more patients to the tune of an increase in about 12 to 14 patients per day.

More and more patients are seeking teeth whitening treatments and it has grown to a generation of about US$19,100 on average from whitening last year. The majority of AACD members polled said that they provide in-office and take-home whitening treatments. Regarding gender, it seems that women are more concerned with having a white smile.

The use of good oral hygiene along with teeth whitening treatments continues for patients to be able to have a younger looking mouth. More dentists have Botox to their offerings in 2011, another AACD survey has found. Cosmetic dentists are now using Botox and dermal filler treatments to improve patient smiles and reduce wrinkles in addition to treating problems like temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders as stated by Dr Christopher Ramsey.
