I have had a cleaning of one of my tooth . There was no hole in the tooth but due to grinding a cavity has been created. Now the senstivity has increased so much that even plain water hurts..pls advise regards

  • Thanks ! Your advice for a desensitising paste is an option..because it is not a hole but only a depression in the tooth with filling. Due to senstivity dentist has removed filling but it still persists. should stop with the tooth paste u sugessted.

  • Normally cleaning doesn’t create any hole. It must be there earlier also bt could have been covered by food deposits. The sensitivity is due to the cavity which is created. You need to get your tooth restored. If the cavity is small, then it can be restored with composite filling and if the cavity is deep, it may require root canal treatment.  After clinical and radiographic examination, your dentist can tell you about the treatment required. The sensitivity will subside after restoration.  Till then you can use desensitizing paste for it.
