Do wisdom teeth play a role in the way ones jaw develops? Could wisdom teeth removal cause the jaw not to grow to full size? Could the wisom teeth stretch the jaw or in any way alter the development if they were in place or not in place?

  • No, removing wisdom tooth does not cause any facial changes as it is too far back but you should get wisdom tooth removed only if it is indicated like impacted or it gets badly decayed. If it is impacted that means there is no space for its eruption in jaw and it gives lot of trouble like swelling and pain. So rest assured there is not going to be any facial change after extraction of wisdom tooth.

  • Wisdom teeth do not help in the development of the jaw. In that way no teeth helps in the deveopment of the jaw. There are growth centres in the jaws which control the growth. So the removal of the wisdom teeth do not hinder the growth of the jaws. If you want to know more about the wisdom teeth you can browse the following
