  • For gaps and misalignment of teeth, dental braces treatment can be done. Dental braces will align the teeth and will make them straight. Dental braces will be given for duration of 18-24 months depending on extent of misalignment which is present and your age. You can opt for metallic, ceramic or lingual dental braces. If you don’t want to braces, then you can even opt for invisaligns for straightening the teeth. Invisaligns are clear, removable aligners and duration of treatment of invisaligns is same or more than dental braces. Gap between teeth can be because of heredity or can be there because of high frenum attachment or can be there because of some congenitally missing tooth. If gap between teeth is because of congenitally missing teeth, then you can get dental implants or bridge to replace the missing tooth. If gaps between teeth are because of small size of teeth, then cosmetic procedures such as dental veneers or dental crowns can be given. For gaps between front teeth, you can opt for porcelain or porcelain fused to metal dental crowns. Porcelain dental crowns are preferred for front teeth as they are more aesthetic than PFM dental crowns. If there is high frenum attachment, then you need to get frenectomy done. If there are 16 teeth in both upper and lower arch including the wisdom teeth or there are 14 teeth in both upper and lower arch excluding wisdom teeth, then gap can’t be filled by adding one more additional tooth. Without clinical examination, it is difficult to give definite diagnosis. You can visit an orthodontist who is specialist in giving dental braces for treatment.
