I was wondering if Invisalign or traditional braces is cheaper. And what is the limit in severity of the teeth for Invisalign?

  • Traditional metal dental braces are cheaper than invisaligns. Traditional dental braces are most popular type of dental braces and have high strength and don’t break easily but they are not very esthetic and are less comfortable. If you don’t want to have metallic teeth, then you can opt for invisaligns which are clear, removable aligners. Invisaligns are invisible and are simpler to clean than traditional dental braces. Invisaligns can be removed while eating, drinking and cleaning the teeth. Invisaligns are more comfortable and don’t irritate gums but can’t be used for treatment of severe malocclusion, severe skeletal defects and severe overbite. Success of treatment of invisaligns depends on patient’s habits and how consistently patient wears them. Traditional dental braces cost around $5000 for both upper and lower arch whereas invisaligns cost around $6200. After considering pros and cons and after consulting your orthodontist, you can decide that whether to opt for traditional metal dental braces or invisaligns.
