I had surgery 11 days ago to have a mucous seal removed from the inside of my bottom right side of my lip. After the surgery it was difficult opening my mouth but I was able to open it. My jaw would pop when I opened it though. Everyday it has been getting harder and harder to open my mouth and now I can barely open it. What would be the reason for this?

  • Getting mucoceal removed is a simple surgery and it has nothing to do with jaw opening as it was just inside of lip. Restriction in jaw opening is because of pain in surgery area or TMJ area.  If it is in surgical area then it may be due to secondary infection and if it is in TMJ area then it can be due to some trauma in TMJ area. So you can consult with your dentist and find out cause of restricted jaw opening. After 11 days of surgery it is not normal to have restricted jaw opening. So scheduel a visit to your dentist.
