I am getting married in a month and would like to get my teeth whitened. I have a fractured molar that my dentist feels no need to work on at the present time because it causes me no discomfort. He gave me the go ahead to have the whitening procedure done in his office, but I would rather use an at-home treatment because it is so much cheaper. Do you think that it is safe for me to whiten my teeth at home? Or will it cause further damage to my molar?

  • It depends upon the type of crack you have. If the crack is exposing the dentine or near the pulp then the chemicals used in home bleach can cause the pain in the tooth. But if it is in the enamel area then it will not cause any problem. For more effective and safe whitening with good results you should prefer professional whitening.
