I asked my dentist to refill a filling that had fallen out. He looked at it and told me that wasn't neccessary. Now 7 years later the tooth (back molar) is rotting black and hurts sometimes. Shouldn't he have filled it?

  • If the tooth was previously filled it shoulod have been filled but some times the whole filling does not come out and dentist feels that  the part of the filling which has come out need not be filled . In 7 years you should also get the 6 monthly check ups done and the need of filling can be diagnosed at that time. It is very difficult to comment on such things without seeing the case clinically. Now any way if the tooth is decaying then you should get it filled with out further delaying the matter.
