Can one have a wisdom tooth eruption at 58? I had my upper teeth extracted 13 years ago and have been wearing dentures since. Now I have what appears to be part of a tooth, pushing through the gum where the upper right third molar would be.

  • Wisdom tooth usually erupts in late teens but can erupt a bit early or can erupt late. Wisdom teeth can even erupt at age of forty or fifty years of age. It can also be a supernumerary tooth or can also be a fragment of tooth which may be left during tooth extraction. Without clinical examination and x-rays, it is difficult to give definite diagnosis. You can visit your dentist. He will take an x-ray and will check that whether it is a wisdom tooth or not. If it is a wisdom tooth or some supernumerary tooth or some tooth fragment, then it can be pulled out.
