  • The swelling around the gums is due to food impaction which couldn’t be cleared very easily from that area. Do warm saline rinses 2-3 times a day which would help in reducing the inflammation. Make sure to brush that area properly while brushing your teeth. The pain could be there because of partially impacted 3rd molar or because of infection in the tooth. After clinical and radiographic examination, your dentist can tell whether the tooth is impacted or not. If it is impacted or infectious, it may require surgical extraction.
