Are premolars suppose to come out? I have a premolar on my left lower jaw, the second premolar, about to fall off.

  • Premolars are not supposed to fall out. It is the milk baby teeth which are suppose to fall out and are later on replaced with adult teeth. Baby molars fall out and are replaced with adult premolars. They are not supposed to come out. Extraction of premolars or bicuspids is done for braces treatment in case of crowding of dental arch. Premolars don’t come out. If you are 10-11 years of age, then it must be a baby molar which you are assuming to be premolar. Second baby molar will fall off and will be replaced with second premolar. If your premolars are getting loose, then you can visit a dentist for evaluation. They can get loose because of deposits around teeth, some trauma to teeth or because of some systemic condition.
