About 8 months ago I had the final placement of my dental implant, tooth 21. The implant 'tooth' is sensitive to touch and I constantly have a throbbing pain in the area. The Periodontist and my dentist say the implant looks perfect. X rays show nothing. My dentist and periodontist are wanting to extract 22 (root canal filled and with an apecetomy) as a solution. I'm very reluctant to do this as X-rays show nothing wrong with 22. Surely, someone must be able to help me and point me in the direction of eliminating my constant pain.

  • After 8 months of having dental implant there should not be any pain and sensitivity. Even in #22 which you are saying is Root Canal Treated, there should not be any sensitivity as it is non vital tooth now and x-ray is not showing any infection or problem whatsoever. So before going for any treatment, you should get it properly diagnosed and for that if second opinion has to be taken then go for it.
