I recently had a back crown fall off and the dentist said I had to get in "immediately" because the "gum regrows so rapidly around the tooth that the crown might not fit". I had an appointment scheduled for two days after this happened and thought it could wait. I never have heard this before...is it true?

  • Yes, you should go to the dentist asap after crown has fallen off because otherwise gums or gingiva around the crowns grow and at the same time supra eruption of the tooth which is crowned takes place. It makes it difficult to fit in the crown and sometimes the adjustments have to be made to fit in the crown. So it is always better to get it cemented immediately after it has come out. So schedule an appointment as soon as possible to avoid complications.
