I have large impacted wisdom teeth. These wisdom teeth have deep cavities. I would like to know if you can fill these wisdom teeth instead of having them extracted.

  • If wisdom teeth are impacted and are infected, then you can get the wisdom teeth pulled out. When there is not enough space for wisdom teeth to erupt, then wisdom teeth becomes impacted. For impacted wisdom teeth, surgical tooth extraction is required. Impacted wisdom teeth also lead to severe pain which may radiate to head and neck region and swelling of gums and jaws. Impacted wisdom tooth can also lead to crowding of front teeth and infection of tooth adjacent to wisdom tooth.   Wisdom teeth don’t aid in mastication and it is more susceptible to infections as it is the last tooth and it becomes difficult to clean till the wisdom tooth. If wisdom teeth are impacted and infected, then you can get them pulled out. Dentist will take an x-ray to see the positioning of wisdom and can pull out the wisdom tooth.
