I have an appointmant to get 2 teeth pulled in a couple days. I am having swelling and severe pain in my ear and lower jaw that comes and goes about every 20 minutes. I have been taking 800 mg of ibueprophen every 4-6 hours but it doesn't seem to help. What else can I do for the pain and swelling to get me through until my appointment?

  • If you have pain and swelling and the teeth are scheduled to be pulled out  then that means teeth are infected. Only pain killers are not going to give relief. You will have to take some antibiotics to control infection. For this you have to visit your dentist who will prescribe the meds for infection.  Your dentist will pull the teeth when the swelling has subsided and pain is controlled.
