  • Systemic complications like fever and malaise can occur with infection in tonsils. Tonsillitis is caused by bacterial infection and causes pain, fever, malaise and patient will become lethargic. Antibiotics are given to treat the infection. In case of acute tooth infection or gingival abscess, patient may experience high body temperature and lethargy and it also causes enlargement of lymph nodes. Fever and malaise can also occur because of other microbial infections. Without examination and knowing your medical history, it is difficult to comment.  You can visit a medical doctor and or dentist for evaluation.
