I have a tooth that has decayed over time and broken away. it is now at gum level and hurting like crazy. cold drinks sets it off more but recently is hurting all the time. i have taken pain killer with codien and that takes the edge off but is still quite painfull

  • If the tooth is decayed and is at the gum level then it must be infected. Only pain killers will not be sufficient. You have to take the antibiotics also to control the infection and for that you have to go to the dentist. He will assess the situation and find out whether it can be saved by root canal treatment or it has to be pulled out. If the tooth is saved then after that post and core is given with the crown.
