just curious-- beside cost what is the advantage of a "flipper" as my dentist called it, over a bridge

  • Indications for flipper and fixed bridge are different. If the supporting teeth are weak or they are not suffficient to give support as abutment tooth then flipper is recommended as flipper gets support from bone. The other is flippers are removable and you can clean them while bridges are fixed. If the abutment tooth develops any problem then whole bridge has to be removed and if any other tooth is lost then it can not be added in fixed bridge but in flippers the tooth can be added anytime.
