I've noticed for a few years that the edges of my tongue have teeth markings, I've read online that this is called scalloped tongue. My dentist told me years ago that I grind my teeth and I think this is the cause? Please can you tell me if there is any way I can treat it. Thank you

  • If the scalloped tongue is due to teeth grinding then you have to wear a night guard for the prevention of teeth grinding. Teeth grinding can cause other harms also like wearing of teeth, soreness of jaw muscles. The cause of teeth grinding is stress. The exact cause is not known. You can visit a dentist and find out cause of teeth grinding and get a night guard made to combat the harmful effects of teeth grinding. Scalloped tongue if it is not painful or it is not causing any problem then it is of no concern.
