i was supposed to go for crown lengthing surgery because my tooth was cracked, i have not been yet and the temporary crown my dentist put on has come off, and it looks like part of my tooth came with it, is his possible?

  • Yes it is possible for a cracked tooth to come out with a temporary crown. Now as tooth structure is less as you have lost part of it, you have to go for crown lengthening to increase the support for a permanent crown otherwise permanent crown will also keep coming out due to lack of support. The success of permanent crown depends on support provided by the abutment tooth and support is present tooth structure. If the tooth structure is less, it can be increased by crown lengthening or by giving post and core. In case of post and core the support is taken from inside of the roots of tooth by putting the posts.
