I have some swelling in my cheek above a cavity and I'm sure it's infected. There is no(or very little)pain now but it did hurt at first(2 days ago now). If it is infected, is it possible it will heal on it's own,or is there an over the counter medication I can buy for the problem? Thank you

  • No, if the abcess is there it will not heal itsself. You have to go for the treatment for that, that is the root canal treatment. You can take the medication which will control the swelling and the pain but if the treatment is not done the recurrence will be there. You can take the pain killer which are avalable OTC but for the antibiotics you need the prescription. It is better you go to the dentist ans get the treatment done.
