hi. i'm hoping you can advise me. a little over a week ago (3/18) i had a molar removed on the lower left side. i was told that a bone graft would be done at that time to prevent a dry socket. i know she had some difficulty with a root or nerve(?) b/c she left it alone. i was feeling what she was doing (in my ear). i was given 3 rxs for amoxil, medrol dosepack, pain rx, and ibuprofen to take in between. by tuesday i could hardly open my jaw, and that side was still throbbing. i went in as asked, and she told me she anticipated me being in severe pain b/c the tooth had been right on top of my nerve. she removed the stitches and instructed me to keep the hole clean with a syringe and qtip dipped in peridex. by friday, i was still having difficulty, esp my lower canine tooth. i went back in, and she packed the site with more bone graft, mucous membrane, and additional stitches. i was given the 3 rx's, and told to keep gauze on the site for 2 days. when i awoke this am, it was hurting still. they called to check on me, and i told them it was still bothering me, and i would let the dentist look at it tomorrow. i feel like they're aggravated w/me now b/c my son overheard them talking about why i was back friday. maybe i should just say it's fine? they told me i had been using the mouth rinse wrong b/c i started swishing it the day the first set of stitches were removed. they also asked if i was using a straw or smoking, and i'm not doing either. what should i do now?

  • Rgarding your problem you must be having the surgical extraction in which bone cutting has to be done. Tis sort of extraction takes time to heal and is quite painful. It can take up to 3 wees for the healing to take place but you have to be careful to maintain the good oral hygeine so that the wond does not get infected. keep doing warm saline rinses very gently 2 to 3 times a day and take soft diet.If he pain increases or there is swelling then yo must see your dentist.
