  • Periodontitis is an advanced gum disease and if it is left untreated, it may cause teeth to become loose and fall out. In case of periodontitis, the gums become weakened and will form pockets around the teeth. Bone loss occurs in case of periodontitis which will make the teeth weak and the teeth can even fall. So take the condition seriously and get treatment done for this.  For the treatment of periodontitis, you can get deep cleaning and scaling done which will save your teeth and will make your gums healthy. If there is advanced stage of periodontitis, then gum surgery like flap surgery is required depending on the symptoms present to treat the condition.  You have to maintain a good oral hygiene by brushing and flossing regularly. You can also do warm saline rinses to reduce the swelling which is present around the gums due to periodontitis. You need to consult your dentist for getting the treatment done. Antibiotics may be given by the dentist for treating the infection in the gums.   For more info on scaling and deep cleaning, you can refer to the following article… http://www.identalhub.com/dental-why-root-scaling-and-planning-is-good--716.aspx
