  • Tooth pain can be there because of infection in the tooth or gums. If there is infection in the tooth, then you can get treatment done for your infected tooth. If there is decay present but the nerve of tooth is not exposed, then tooth can be restored with dental filling. If nerve of the tooth is also involved in infection, then root canal treatment is done for the tooth. Root canal treatment can be done during pregnancy. If there is gum infection present, then you can get dental cleaning done. If treatment is not done for infection, then pain may aggravate. Second trimester is considered as safe period for dental procedures. You can visit your dentist to get treatment done for infected tooth. Because of hormonal alterations during pregnancy, reaction of gums to plaque and calculus deposits is altered and gum swelling can occur during pregnancy. It is important to maintain good oral hygiene during pregnancy. Brush and floss regularly. To reduce swelling of gums, you can do warm saline rinses 3-4 times a day. By the time you visit a dentist, you can keep a clove over infected tooth and if there is cavity present, then you can keep a cotton swab saturated with turmeric powder in cavity.
