hi i went to a new dentist and when he tooth an xray he told me that my upper right 7 has a metal post and a pfm crown over it but the tooth was not root canal treated. so i'm just wondering what should i do? there is no pain related to it.

  • Metal posts are usually given after root canal treatment of the tooth followed by core build up and dental crown. In case of badly mutilated tooth, metal posts are given to provide strength to the tooth and after giving posts, dental crown is given to reinforce the weakened tooth structure. Pins can be given without root canal treatment but post is mostly given after root canal treatment. To avoid infection in tooth in future, you can get root canal treatment done for the tooth.
