  • Lisp can either be physiologic or can be because of some medical condition like swollen adenoids or can be because of malocclusion of teeth. If lisp is because of malocclusion of teeth, then braces treatment can be given to treat the condition. If it is because of some medical problem like swollen adenoids, then you need to get treatment done for it.  You can refer to an orthodontist and or medical doctor to determine cause of lisp. If it is because of wrong bite, then orthodontist can correct it with braces treatment. If there is some malocclusion of teeth, then it can be corrected with braces treatment which will be given for duration of 18-24 months depending on the extent of misalignment which is present.
