My son lost his front tooth, then a small tooth began to come in. His xrays show that there is another small tooth and the adult tooth still under the gums. Have you ever heard of anyone having 4 teeth in the same spot, and should I be concerned?

  • Yes, it is possible to have the extra teeth . These extra teeth are called supernmerary teeth . The reason is unknown it may be hereditary. Normally if the dentist is sure that these are the extra teeth then they should be pulled out as they hinder the eruption of the adult teeth and adult teeth either become impacted or try to come out in the wrong position. But before going for the extraction the situation has to be asessed very carefully and the diagnosis should be confirmed.
