Recently i shifted to a new area and had to cancel my ongoing treatment and went to an local dentist to start my treatment. This is new dentist told me that due to my age (18) and my jaw, he can't do much except push my jaws a little back but my lips won't meet and my teeth will still show. I wanted to know does age really affect the treatment cause my old dentist said that my lips would be meeting by the time my treatment is done with him. If you i post my OPG X-Ray and all here, can i get a second opinion? I just want to make sure. Thanks

  • these days with so many treatment options age is no bar..It is agreed that the treatment  can vary becase of the age but the treatment can be done. If your upper jaw is quite out and lower jaw is retruded then if the treatment is done in the early age then the dentist mostly uses some myofunctional applisnce to enchance te growth but now as you are already 18 and the growth of the jaws ia already completed then you cannot be given myofunctional appliance but other treatment options like orthgnathic surgery is availale. So you can take second opinion from the specialist.
