I had a root canal redone 3 weeks ago, and have been put on 3 types of antibiotic regimens since the, but am still having intermittent moderate pain at the site of the root canal. Can this be within normal limits? The endodontist maintains that this is the reason that he doesn't have the second visit until 4-6 weeks later, as pain can still be going on for a while, due to the healing process, and he said that there is ongoing antibiotic in the material that he filled the canal with, so don't worry and just wait it out. Should I be concerned?

  • Healing depends on amount if infection and abscess formation. If you Endodontist say that it may take 4-6 weeks then you may wait till then. It is normal as healing can take place upto 6 weeks. So till then maintain good oral hygiene and donot irritate that tooth and donot bite anything hard from that side. It will help in healing. So there is nothing to worry and follow all the after instructions given by endodontist. for more  info on pain after root canal treatment you can check this link in our website...  http://www.identalhub.com/dental-pain-after-root-canal--914.aspx
