Three weeks ago I had a deep cleaning done to my upper right and lower left teeth, a redo of a filling on lower right tooth and extraction of all of my wisdom teeth in the same visit. When they numbed me for the deep cleaning she accidentally pricked my lip with the needle. When they numbed me for the wisdom teeth extraction on the left side, I felt a pain and weird sensation go up my face on the left side. I needed a lot of numbing for the extraction. The wisdom tooth on the lower right was hard to remove. It felt like he was pushing my other teeth together while doing it. After the visit, I had the usual pain and numbness, but I figured it would go away after a couple days. It has been three weeks and my teeth on the lower right side are numb (I can't feel when I chew on that side), my lip and down to my chin on middle-right side is numb/swollen-ish, and my teeth in bottom-middle feel even more cramped together and I have pain in the bottom tooth/gum area. I went back last week and they looked at it, but just said that after extractions it can sometimes take up to a month and a half for the numbness to go away due to the trauma. I'm worried there is something wrong that I am still numb and have pain still.

  • Yes, they are right . Sometimes after extraction it takes upto 6 weeks for the numbness to go away as during giving the injection or during the extracting some trauma can occur but it comes back. Till then make sure to maintain very good oral hygiene and follow all the instructions given by your dentist.
