I was schedule for a root canal, 1/2 hour after the doctor started the service he took 2. X rays and told me he could not do the root canal since he did not have a microscope,! I was charged $80, he gave me a prescription for pain and amoxicillin also a.referral. Is this common, I am in disbelief of what happened. I was completely numb so it was hard to communicate. I have a temporary filling and in search of a new endodontis how long could I stay with the filling and how soon after the root canal can I schedule the appointment for the crown. To me this situation is completely unprofessional and I will be going back to try to get my money , am I wrong for doing that? Thank you. Zandra

  • Sometimes some teeth have complicated anatomy in which it is difficult to do the root canal treatment for the general dentist and that is why he must have reffered to the specialist. In such cases it is normal to reffer to the specialist. With temporary filling you can stay upto wek or 10 days till the filling comes out and more so ever as you are on the antibiotics it is better to get the root canal tretment done as soon as possible. You can check with your dentist for refund of your $80.
