My back molar (wisdom tooth I guess) wants to grow in but there is skin above it, I believe it's part of my gum and it is really swollen because it partially covers the tooth. What should I do?

  • The thing which you are referring is termed as "Pericoronitis". It is all due to the eruption of wisdom tooth. You need to take special care of the oral hygiene. Don't poke that area with tooth pick or any sharp instrument. Wash that area with betadine using blunt syringe (do it carefully under supervision or ask someone to do it for you), dont eat anything solid from that side and do warm saline gargles with more pressure on that side for 2-3 times daily. Also scedule a dental appointment to get an Xray done. This will tell you the direction in which tooth is coming.
