I just had to have one of my crowns put back on. They had to place a post. The dental assistant told me that I had to cut all my food up into small bites to eat for life. I can not bite into sandwiches etc. etc. This is the second crown I have with a post and I was never told this before. Is this true or is it ok to eat food like hamburger, corn on the cob, etc. etc. with out cutting into small bite size pieces. Thank you.

  • If the post has to be given that means the tooth structure is very less and the support is taken from the root.In such cases you have to take certain precautions if you really want that the crown should last long . it is better if you do not bite hard things from that tooth and cut it into small pieces.
