My 3 year old Niece got ulcers in her mouth for the past 3 days. One on her tongue, palate, inner cheek and few on her gums. it looks reddish, not large but not like spots and is painful in between. It did bleed once. She has a bad breath in between and her lips are dry and she gets a dry cough sometimes in the night. Is it bacterial or fungal infection? What treatment must be given? One doctor gave Lacobacillus gel while another gave miconazole. Kindly advice.

  • There can be many reasons for the ulcers in the mouth. It can be because of some infection as she has cough and dry mouth also. give her plenty of fluids and lactobacillus supplement is fine.If painful, topical application of oragel can be done. Normally they are self limiting .They subside in a week, if there is no secondary infection or they are not irritated. if they do not subside or the severity increases then you have to visit your physician. For more info on ulcers you can visit the following link on our website...
